Array Science manufactures the highest quality cell culture microarrays (CMAs), suitable for advanced histologic analyses such as immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH). Applications include assay optimization, validation, daily quality control, inter-laboratory comparisons, and proficiency testing. We produce CMAs from cell pellets supplied by clients or from trusted industry partners.


 Our blocks are built with standard core diameters of 1.0mm, 1.5mm, or 2.0mm, and depths up to 15mm. Custom core sizes and cell densities are available upon request.

Composition This Ki-67 sensitivity control is created by mixing Ki-67 positive cells in a stepwise gradient (0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 30%, and 100%) in a background of Ki-67 negative cells. This product is available with triplicate cores, as well as single cores (Ki-67-6-1-3-1) This array provides four cell lines with consistent proliferation indices that can help assess the sensitivity of Ki-67 assays. It is designed for use with the Visiopharm Qualitopix platform but may also be used with manual interpretation or other image analysis applications. The array slides may be helpful for initial assay optimization, validation, and daily QC monitoring assay consistency. This array provides cell lines mixes with consistent proliferation indices that can help assess the sensitivity and reproducibility of Ki-67 assays. The cell mixes consist of highly proliferative Jurkat cells titered into a background of negative cells (Sf9) at known concentrations. The product may be used with manual interpretation or image analysis applications. The array slides may be helpful for initial assay optimization, validation, and daily QC for monitoring assay consistency.

Composition HER2 is 3+ in one core and 1+ in the other. By FISH, one core is negative core and the other is strongly amplified. ER and PR are positive in one core and negative in the other. ​ This control also shows reactivity for GATA3, GCDFP-15 and Mammaglobin. Our 7-core HER2 control shows fine incremental increases in HER2 expression, especially in the range of 1+, which is now of increasing clinical importance. This is an excellent control for FISH assays, as well as IHC.

PD-L1 Standardization Array

Composition Four engineered cell lines with increasing levels of PD-L1 expression (and a wild-type negative parental line) are present in this array and can distinguish sensitivity among multiple PD-L1 assays. This control can help optimize a given assay and monitor drift of sensitivity over time. It can also be useful for intra-day, inter-day, inter-instrument, and inter-operator evaluation.

Composition This control contains a melanoma cell line that shows the BRAF V600E mutation. As such, it also may serve as a control for multiple melanocytic markers, such as S-100, Melan A, HMB45, SOX10, and PRAME, among others. The negative core is a thyroid medullary carcinoma with reactivity for TTF-1, calcitonin, synaptophysin, and villin, among others. A sensitivity control, showing 0%, 3%, 30%, and 100% BRAF V600E-containing cores is sold separately.
